VEGANHOTELS.COM FOOD ABC

Gluten-free
As good as grain-protein gluten may be for a crispy bread roll and also al-dente noodles, gluten is just as bad for people with intolerance to gluten(coeliac disease) or gluten sensitivity. Ordinary flour and grain products such as bread, muesli, cake, pizza and many other products are therefore on the “no-go”-list, among other things buckwheat, sweet corn, rice, millet, quinoa, chickpeas, potatoes and of course fruits, vegetables, nuts and oil seeds are allowed.

LOGI
“Low Glycemic Insulinemic Diet” is a quite young but very popular nutrition concept, originally invented to prevent and treat type-2-diabetes. It also works as a daily-life-concept and improves metabolism and the blood count. LOGIS abstain from white flour and sugar but they also enjoy good carbohydrates like whole meal pasta, potatoes, brown rice, lots of vegetables, less fruits, lean meat and fish.

Macrobiotic
Surprisingly, the term “macrobiotic” comes from the Greek although it is an eastern philosophy of life and food. It means “teaching of a long life”. The inventor, Japanese named Georges Oshawa classified the food stuff according to the Ying-Yan-principle. Basic food is brown rice (Yin). The macrobiotic cuisine is almost vegetarian, low in fat and high in fibres with lots of vegetables, a bit of fruits and fish. Meat, milk products and sugar are forbidden. All food stuff should be regional, seasonal, biological and sustainable.

Raw Food
also known as Living Food or uncooked vegetarian food is at the moment one of the culinary and most exciting nutrition trends. Rawfoodies eat exclusively food of vegetables origin, consequently they are vegan. Nothing is heat up to 42° degree so that vitamins, enzymes and other phytochemicals maintain. Perfect for Detox-, Happy- and Anti-Aging-Food.

Slow Food
is a food “movement“ from Italy. The organization was founded by Carlo Petrini in 1986. Slow food is committed to appreciative, sustainable and regional food – as a countermovement to global fast food, intensive livestock farming and mass production. Principally, all domestic products and traditional recipes are eaten.

Ayurveda
Hardly any other teaching fascinates us people in modern times more than Ayurveda, an old, holistic health system from India which is a several thousand years old. No wonder, eventually “the knowledge of life” defines health completely timeless as a wellbeing on all four levels: mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Each person should live and eat in accordance with his or her bioenergetics type (Dosha). There are three types to be distinguished: Vata (Wind, Air, Movement), Pitta (Fire and Water) and Kapha (Earth and Water). The essential medical or wellness element is Panchakarma a detox and anti-aging cure with oil-treatment (e.g. anoinment), massage, yoga and meditation.

Meditation
is known in many cultures as teaching of awareness and concentration which has been underpinned by science over the last few years. Meditation relieves your mind, inspires for ‘expansion of awareness’ and leads us individually back to our origin. Aside from meditation being the perfect antidote to hecticness and overstimulation of our lifestyles 2.0 it also helps against negative stress-symptoms, sleeplessness, burnout, chronic pain and high blood pressure.

Qi Gong

The slow and strictly ritualized concentrations and body exercises bring the energy (Qi) to flow and help to relax and slow down. Qi Gong is also ideal for joint and muscle problems after a surgery or as a “better aging-sport”.

is the most popular holistic teaching of breathing and movement and originates from India. The modern physical Hatha Yoga is today practiced in many modern varieties like Ashtanga, Jivamutkim Vinayasa, Kundalini and many others around the world.
